When In Doubt Just Reach Out

It’s important to stay informed of the latest scams. Fraudsters are always changing tactics -but one tactic that is consistent is that they rush you into acting. Taking a moment to stop and verify the request with VyStar or your financial institution can keep you from risking your personal information and your money.

  • Call the number on the back of your debit/credit card

  • Visit VyStarcu.org or your financial institution’s official website

  • Stop by a branch in person

How to Spot a Scam

Fraudsters often use fear and urgency to pressure you into acting quickly, claiming your account is at risk or you must respond immediately to avoid punishment or penalty. They will urge you to click on a link or call a phone number. They will instruct you to provide them with your personal information or to withdraw funds to send to an account, convert to debit cards or even offer to come to your home to pick up the cash/debit cards.

  • Never click on a link or call a number provided

  • Do not provide false information to your financial institution about your reason for withdrawal

  • Do not allow anyone to come to your home to pick up money/debit cards

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I believe I am a victim of fraud?

The sooner you report fraud — either suspected or committed — the better your chances are of minimizing the impact on your account. If you see unauthorized transactions on your account or believe you are a victim of fraud, please report it as soon as possible. You can report it in several ways:

  • Call our Contact Center at 904-777-6000 or 800-445-6289, option 2. Our representatives are available Monday through Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

  • Visit any VyStar branch and report the fraud to a Member Service Representative.

Are there alerts I can set up to stay ahead of fraudulent activity on my accounts?

We proactively monitor members’ card transactions for suspicious activity. When a suspicious transaction is made by your debit or credit card, we will send you a fraud alert via text message, phone call or email.

You can also set up your own alerts through Online & Mobile Banking for specific events, such as a low balance notification or a change to your password or contact information. Learn how to set up and manage your account alerts.

My card is lost/stolen. What should I do?

If your debit or credit card is lost or stolen, call our Contact Center at 904-777-6000 or 800-445-6289, option 2, or visit any VyStar branch.

For credit cards, you can also use Online & Mobile Banking to report a lost or stolen card or to report a dispute for an unauthorized or disputed transaction.

Does VyStar offer protection on their Visa® credit and debit cards?

Yes, we do. You won’t be held responsible for unauthorized transactions made with your Visa® credit, debit or prepaid card. If your card is lost, stolen or fraudulently used, you’re covered. Additionally, our Visa® cards have EMV chips, which adds extra layer of protection.
