Mobile Banking Security
Here are some steps to help ensure your safety when using the internet at home:
Stay proactive in securing your mobile device. Locking your device with a password is strongly suggested.
Never give out your mobile banking credentials, this includes for third party mobile deposits.
Log out of the mobile browser or mobile banking app when you’re not using it.
Remove sensitive personal information, such as bank account numbers and passwords from your phone.
How to Avoid the Scam
Beware of any incoming calls from someone claiming they are a technical support from Microsoft, Windows, Amazon, Google, a computer anti-virus company, etc.
Beware of computer pop-up screens that instruct you to call a phone number for technical support. Avoid clicking on any pop-up links.
You can always contact a company directly from a trusted phone number, located on their home website.
If someone has remoted into your computer, never log into any financial websites or site with personal information. (Online banking, credit cards, etc.)
Never purchase gift cards to pay a business, service, or repay a loan.
Never mail cash for business or services.
Companies like Microsoft, Amazon and Google will never issue you a refund or an overage and require you to pay back the refund via gift cards, wire or Zelle®.
