Branch Updates

The health and safety of our members and employees is our top priority. If a storm is expected to impact any of the communities we serve, we will post all branch closure notices, adjusted hours of operation and ATM availability on this page and on our Locations page. As a reminder, VyStar members have access to our network of over 55,000 surcharge-free ATMs worldwide.

The VyStar Hurricane Relief Team Is Here to Help

If a hurricane damages your home and you’re worried about the financial aftereffects, please give us a call. Our Hurricane Relief Team has options that can help you recover. Please contact us at mortgageservicingunit@vystarcu.org or via phone at 904-908-2424 or 800-445-6289, ext. 2424, option 2 (hardship) or 3 (insurance claim).

For inquiries regarding your current insurance carrier, please call 800-998-0761. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

If you have lender-placed insurance and need to file a claim, please call 800-998-0759. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

We Do More Than Hurricane Relief

In addition to hurricane relief, we can assist with other types of disasters that might affect more than just your home. We are here to help our members with any type of property damage, and we’re happy to assist with the coordination and processing of your insurance claims and repairs. Beyond Your Home

We understand that disasters, even away from your home, can cause financial difficulties. For example, if you are experiencing a financial hardship because of a disaster at your workplace that caused you to lose income, we can help. Our credit union is designed to help people through their financial difficulties, so we encourage you to keep us informed. VyStar has various options that may be workable for you.

One such option is our Natural Disaster Loan, which can be used for travel, supplies or to fulfill other basic needs during and in the immediate aftermath of a hurricane. This program offers:

  • Loan amounts from $500-$15,000

  • Fixed rate loan at 10%

  • Terms up to 24 months

Members can apply for a Natural Disaster Loan online, by visiting at a VyStar branch or by calling our Contact Center.

What should I do first if my home is damaged by a storm or hurricane?

One of the most important steps toward recovery is to report the damage to your homeowners insurance company. Many insurance companies have websites and toll-free numbers that can be used to file a claim. When you contact your insurance company, be sure to ask when the adjuster will be out, and when to expect any claim checks. Claim checks are generally made payable to the insured (homeowner) and the lien holder (VyStar Credit Union).

I have been impacted by a hurricane. How do I modify my loan payments?

Call the VyStar Hurricane Relief Team at 904-908-2458 or 800-445-6289, ext. 2458.

Our team is ready to work with you. We will talk with you about the flexibility of loan payments, and we will work with you and your insurance company to help get your home repaired.

How do I start the repair process?

Because VyStar’s name will be with yours on the insurance check as the mortgage provider, we will also need to endorse the check. Please notify us or visit your local branch as soon as you get your check. We will give you the information and forms you need to move forward with repairs. Please do not endorse the check until you talk with us.

How does VyStar handle the necessary repairs and insurance checks?

If your home requires minor repairs and your loan is current, in most cases VyStar generally does not oversee the repair process. VyStar will typically put your name on the check so you can make the necessary repairs.

For significant damage or loans that are not current, VyStar will help monitor the repairs to your home to ensure your property is restored. This process will help protect you from incomplete repairs and potential fraud. In this case, you will be required to endorse the insurance check and send it to VyStar.

When you visit one of our branches or call us, we will provide details on how to process the check.
