Our Culture & Belonging team leads initiatives that make VyStar a great place to work, ensuring employees can bring their whole selves to work and reach their full potential. We focus on four key areas:

  • Building a Workforce That Reflects the Communities We Serve: We strive to attract, develop and retain top talent, ensuring our workforce is as dynamic and diverse as the places we call home.

  • Enhancing Employee Engagement: We create meaningful experiences, programs and initiatives that foster connection, collaboration and growth.

  • Nurturing External Partnerships: We strengthen relationships with industry, nonprofit and community partners to drive greater impact inside and outside of VyStar.

How We Build a Dynamic Workplace Culture

A strong culture doesn’t happen by chance — it’s built through intentional efforts, employee-driven initiatives and leadership commitment. At VyStar, we cultivate an environment where employees feel a strong sense of belonging through:

  • Proudly supporting parades and other commemorations for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Pride and Veterans Day throughout our market areas.

  • Hosting a quarterly luncheon and social event to welcome new employees, providing an exciting opportunity to connect with senior leadership and colleagues.

  • Empowering VRGs to host internal events that promote understanding and support of observed commemorative months.

  • Encouraging our VRGs to host family-friendly events, including a Fourth of July celebration, an “Eggs”travaganza, movie nights and a Trunk-or-Treat event to bring people together for fun and happiness.

  • Celebrating VyStar’s anniversary with Employee Appreciation Week in April, featuring activities, prizes, recognition, visits from senior leaders and breakfast and lunch events across the company.

  • Hosting competitions throughout our branches, Contact Centers and headquarters to boost employee engagement, such as a Halloween Costume Contest, a Pumpkin Carving and Decorating Contest, a Gingerbread House Decorating Contest, an Ugly Sweater Contest and more.

  • Launching our annual Good is everywhere celebration. In 2024, we rehabbed a building for the Annie Ruth Foundation. Over 100 VRG members helped install a security system, TV displays and new lighting as well as landscaped, painted, and completed minor repairs. Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan awarded VyStar with a proclamation.

  • Raising money for the ALS Association, including our own President/CEO Brian Wolfburg, who participated in the 2024 CEO Soak.

  • Partnering with The Arc Jacksonville to provide meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with developmental or intellectual differences.
