Card Control App

VyStar Mobile Banking app, Accounts screen showing Manage My Debit Card Access at bottom of listWith the VyStar Card Control App, you have better control over your debit and business debit cards. After a one-time download of this companion app, you can:

  • Sign up for alerts based on transaction amount, location, merchant type or transaction type
  • Turn your card off/on if it is stolen or misplaced
  • Set spending limits on a card, which is great for parents or businesses
  • This feature is also available for Health Savings Account (HSA) and Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) cards

How to Download the VyStar Card Control App

  1. Log in to the VyStar Mobile Banking App.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Accounts screen.
  3. Click on “Manage My Debit Card Access” to launch the VyStar Card Control App.
  4. A notification to download the companion app will pop-up. Click “OK” to open the Apple® App Store or Google PlayTM store.
  5. Download the VyStar Card Control App.
  6. Once you have downloaded the app, you can access Card Control through the VyStar Mobile Banking App using steps 1 through 3. Upon launching the new VyStar Card Control App, a notification request pop-up will ask for permission to send you notification. Click “Allow” for the alerts to be sent to you.

Note: To use the VyStar Card Control App, you will need to use the VyStar Mobile Banking App to access it. Please refer to steps 1through 3 above for app access.

Adding your card to the Card Control App

The next step is adding your card to the app. You can add VyStar debit, business debit, Health Savings Account (HSA) or Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) cards.
  1. Once you have completed the steps to download the VyStar Card Control App, log in to the VyStar Mobile Banking App.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Accounts screen.
  3. Click on “Manage My Debit Card Access” to launch the VyStar Card Control App.
  4. You will be prompted to enter your 16-digit card number.
  5. Next, you can enter the security code (CVV/CVV2) on the back of your card as well as the card expiration date and your billing address.
  6. For security authentication, you will be prompted to enter the last four (4) digits of your Social Security number.
  7. Terms and Conditions for the Card Control App will be presented. Click “Accept” to complete registration.

Adding Additional Cards

Modify which cards are being managed, and add additional cards from the "Manage Portfolio" menu.

Turning a Card On/Off

If you have lost or misplaced your card, using the on/off option for your card is helpful and convenient. Use the steps below for this feature:

  1. Log in to the VyStar Mobile Banking App.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Accounts screen.
  3. Click on “Manage My Debit Card Access” to launch the VyStar Card Control App.
  4. From the Cards landing page, click the card you want to use.
  5. Use the toggle to switch “Card ON/OFF” and turn your card access on or off.
  6. A confirmation message will pop-up to confirm the on/off switch. Click “Yes” to confirm your selection.

Setting Up Location Controls

Location controls allow your card to be used within a certain geographical area. You will be able to set up three types of location controls: "My Location," "My Regions" and "International."
To set your location controls:

  1. Within the VyStar Card Control App, select the card you want to set up controls for.
  2. Click on “Control Preferences.”
  3. Tap “Locations.”
  4. Toggle the My Location, My Region or International control to enable a location control for your card.
"My Location" Details:

Once set, the location control will compare your location to a merchant or store’s location to decide if a transaction should be approved. Transactions made at locations that are different from your location are denied. Your location is determined by your mobile device.

"My Regions" Details:

The "My Regions" selection allows you to define up to three geographical areas where in-store transactions can be made. Regions have a radius of at least 5 miles. Any transactions attempted outside of the defined region will be denied.

Once you enable “My Regions,” you’ll be able to click the + button to add your specific regions through an interactive map. You must add at least one region to use this feature.

"International" Details:

When the "International" location control is set, any transactions outside of a designated country will be denied. You can add a country by clicking the + button. If no countries are adding, all international card-present transactions will be denied.

Note: Location controls are applicable only to in-store, when your card is presented for transactions. Location is based on your phone’s location. 

Setting Up Merchant Type Controls

If you are looking for a way to control spending for certain types of purchases or to limit fraud from certain merchant types, consider using Merchant Type Controls.
To set Merchant Type Controls:

  1. Within the VyStar Card Control App, select the card you want to set up controls for.
  2. Click on “Control Preferences.”
  3. Tap “Merchant Types.”
  4. Toggle “Enable Merchant Controls” to the "On" position.
  5. A list of different merchant types (e.g., entertainment, gas station, restaurant) will appear. Click the toggle switch to select the types you would like to disable or you prefer transactions to be denied from. If the toggle is green, the merchant type transaction will be approved.
  6. Click “Save” to complete your changes.

Setting Up Transaction Type Controls

You can use Transaction Types to enable or disable in-store, eCommerce (online), mail/phone order, auto pay or ATM transactions.
To set Transaction Type Controls:

  1. Within the VyStar Card Control App, select the card you want to set up controls for.
  2. Click on “Control Preferences.”
  3. Tap “Transaction Types.”
  4. Toggle “Enable Transaction Controls” to the "On" position.
  5. A list of different transaction types will appear. Click the toggle switch to select the types you would like to disable or you prefer transactions to be denied from. If the toggle is green, the transaction type will be approved.
  6. Click “Save” to complete your changes.

Setting Up Spend Limit Controls

Need to limit spending of a teen (if you're a parent/guardian) or an employee (if you’re a business owner)? Perhaps you need a little help with budgeting? Use Spend Limit Controls to set spending limits on transactions. Limits can be set per transaction or per month.
To set Spending Limits:

  1. Within the VyStar Card Control App, select the card you want to set up controls for.
  2. Click on “Control Preferences.”
  3. Tap “Spend Limits.”
  4. Choose from “Per Transaction.”
    1. If you’re setting limits per transaction, toggle the button to green. Then, enter an amount in “Deny transaction exceeding” field.
    2. If you’re setting limits per month, toggle the button to green. Then, enter an amount in the “Deny transactions exceeding a monthly spend limit of” field.
  5. Click “Save” to complete your changes.

Any transaction over the selected per-transaction or per-month amounts will be denied.

Setting Up Push Alerts

Use Alert Preferences to notify you when a specific type of transaction occurs. You can set alerts for locations, merchant types, transaction types and spend limits.
To set Alert Preferences:

  1. Within the VyStar Card Control App, click the menu icon at the top left.
  2. Tap “Settings” and then “Primary Device.”
  3. Use the toggle to switch to the “On” position. This will ensure your device is set to receive the push alert.
  4. Next, return to the Home screen using the menu at left.
  5. Select the card you want to set up alerts for.
  6. Click “Alert Preferences.”
  7. Choose an option from the drop-down list for “Send alerts for.” There are three options: "All Transactions," "Preferred Transactions" or "None."
    1. If "All Transactions" or "None" is selected, no further action is needed.
    2. If "Preferred Transactions" is selected, you’ll be provided with Alert Preference Options for Locations, Merchant Types, Transaction Types and Spend Limits.
  8. Set your preferences, then click “Save” to complete your changes.

Note: Receiving an alert does not cause a transaction to be denied. Control Preferences must be used for denying card transactions.

Viewing Recent Transactions

  1. Within the VyStar Card Control App, select the card you want to view transactions for.
  2. Click “Recent Transactions.”
  3. Your most recent card transactions will be displayed. Transactions will list up to the last 30 days or last 50 transactions, whichever is less.
  4. You can click on a transaction for further details, such as transaction status, merchant information and push alerts.

Please note: Balances will not be displayed in the VyStar Card Control App. To view your account balance, please return to the VyStar Mobile Banking App.
