Soon, Check Card Transactions Will Be In Real Time

Our members have been asking for a better way to monitor their checking account balances and be able to view their Check Card transactions when they actually occur not one or two days later when they post.

Beginning in mid-August, purchases made with your VyStar Visa Check Card where you press credit or sign for the transaction* will reach your credit union account in real time. This means the funds for your purchase will be reserved from your account and wont be available for other transactions. The old transaction lag time is all but gone. Instead, you will see pending transactions you have made before they complete with the merchant and your balance will be reduced immediately.

Have more control over your money. This move to improve our checking service will be familiar to members with VyStar credit cards who already view their transactions online when they take place via Internet Banking to ensure they have enough funds available to transact business and make their card purchases. Theres less room for error or funds coming up short.

What are pending Check Card transactions? Members who use Check Cards will see their pending check card transactions in their checking account history. This covers card transactions that have not completed the posting to your account but are still in a pending status. For example, you shop at Wal-Mart and use your Check Card to pay at the register. Your transaction at this time is considered pending. Thats because the transaction has not had time to complete with the merchant. With our new real-time system, this pre-authorized pending amount for your purchase will be held against your available checking account balance until it converts into a posted transaction.

Note: It is important that you review your pending transactions as they sometimes vary from the final posted amounts when the transaction completes its process. You can do this with VyStar Internet Banking or if you are on the go, through our free Wireless Banking and Text Message Banking services using your cell phone or other mobile device, or by calling free Magic*Touch voice response telephone service. Visit www.vystarcu.org for instructions on how to set up and use these convenience services or speak with a VyStar Representative.

*The PIN-based Check Card transaction process remains the same and currently post real time to the account.
