FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR INTERNET BANKING USERS

Is Internet Banking Secure at VyStar Credit Union?

All information collected by or available on Internet Banking is protected through the use of the secure socket layer (SSL) protocol and 128-bit encryption. SSL is an encryption system that creates a secure environment for information that is passed between the member’s computer and VyStar Credit Union. When you click on the ‘GO’ button to access Internet Banking, your Log-In ID and Password are encrypted, immediately wrapped in a secure socket (the equivalent of a digitally secured page) and sent to the Internet Banking application. The application and your member information are completely secure when you are logging into Internet Banking.

How does VyStar Credit Union manage the privacy and security of personal and account information online?

VyStar Credit Union takes very seriously our responsibility for managing the privacy and security of your personal and account information online. When you are using VyStar Internet Banking, you are using a secure site. VyStar is committed to online technology and has taken steps to ensure that accessing your accounts via the Internet is safe and secure, by implementing state-of-the-art security standards. The confidentiality of your accounts is maintained as the data is passed from our host computer to your personal computer in an encrypted format, where your browser then decodes the information for you to view. This prevents the data from being intercepted and/or viewed by an unauthorized third party. VyStar has also installed secure firewalls to ensure that no unauthorized access is permitted.

Additionally, each user session is set up for a specific period of time. If you do not make a transaction within a specific time period, your session will time-out. If your session times out, and you are not finished using VyStar Internet Banking, you will need to log on again. This reduces "the window of opportunity" for an unauthorized user to access your account information if you walk away from your computer without logging off VyStar Internet Banking.

Every effort was made along the way, as the system was designed and developed, to ensure that this system is as secure as possible. The credit union is confident that offering you account access through VyStar Internet Banking is safe and that your account information remains confidential, as long as you follow safe computing standards.

To learn more about how we manage the privacy and security of your personal and account information online, we encourage you to read our "Privacy Statement" and "Internet Banking Security Statement".

What is encryption?

Encryption is a process used to scramble confidential data passed between two points so that it is not readable to others. 128-bit encryption is the most secure encryption currently available for use on the Internet. The "128" refers to the length of the encryption key used to scramble the data; the longer the key, the greater the security.

To use VyStar Internet Banking, a secure browser that supports 40 bit or 128 bit encryption is required. However, it is strongly recommended that you have a secure browser which supports 128 bit encryption.
